Class of 2021 Cookbook

YHS
Deadline for submissions was Thursday, May 20 at 12:00 pm
As part of our University Transition Day on June 9, which is being planned by our counselling team, we are going to put together a cookbook that offers some easy and delicious family recipes that our grads can prepare while at university.

Some students will stay right here in Vancouver, while other students will travel across Canada, to the US and abroad to Switzerland for their post-secondary education. Some students will have meal plans, others will be cooking for themselves.

We invite our graduates’ families as well as YHS staff to share a special family recipe that will be easy for a first-year student to whip up (sometimes with few ingredients in their cupboards and possibly with very few pots and pans :). This may be a family favourite or just a quick, easy, and healthy recipe.

Please consider filling out this Google form with your family name, your recipe, and a few sentences of why you have shared this recipe (ie. it’s a family favourite, this recipe is a healthy and quick option when you are in a hurry, etc.).

Example:

Mrs. Harvey’s Favourite Green Smoothie
I can make this quick, easy, and healthy smoothie in three minutes and pour it into a thermos for my kids to bring to school! Sometimes it’s breakfast and other days it’s lunch. I call it their drinkable salad. It’s the only way my 8-year-old will eat vegetables! It will be a quick and easy option for a healthy way to start your day next year wherever you are studying.

In a blender, mix:
½ cup of orange juice
2 cups or 2 to three handfuls of spinach (I use as much as I can)
1 banana (frozen or thawed, even if it’s going brown, it works!)
1 handful of strawberries or mango (I use frozen, but you can use whatever you have)

The deadline for submissions was Thursday, May 20 at 12:00 pm.
