Welcome

Welcome to York House School

Head of School, Deryn Lavell
Now in its 92nd year, York House School was founded by seven trailblazing women with a vision to empower young women and girls to discover their passions, find their voice, and develop the confidence to lead a life of purpose.

As Head of School, I am thrilled to have the opportunity every day to see this vision in action. York House School prepares young women to make a difference within and beyond their communities. As we celebrate our 90th anniversary we have much to be proud of. Our rich history, values, and traditions guide our community as we focus on an increasingly complex future that demands even greater innovation and bold thinking.

Our faculty challenge and inspire our students to develop the skills, competencies, and understanding to make a positive impact in our world. Our diverse and talented students explore issues that matter to them, pose questions, seek out new perspectives, and find solutions to real-world problems. You'll find our Yorkies to be quick witted and divergent thinkers, who don't shy away from a challenge. I encourage you to come and meet them!

Our community is small. But that's part of the magic. We get to know each other well and our students are seen and known for who they are. Our families are engaged in the life of our school, and we deeply appreciate their commitment to making our community stronger. Our network of alums represent the promise that exists for a York House student as they explore creative, professional, and entrepreneurial pursuits that are making a difference around the world.

We invite you to come visit and see for yourself the power of a York House education.

Warm regards,

Deryn Lavell
