Learning Strategies

At York House, the Learning Strategies program recognizes that each student has a unique learning profile. With personalized guidance and support, students supported by the program come to understand their individual strengths and needs, and develop their own learning toolkits. Through this approach, students build the independence, confidence and resilience needed for lifelong learning.

Our Learning Strategies teams at both the Junior and Senior Schools work closely with students, families, and teachers to tailor needs-based and strengths-based support, fostering inclusive environments where every neurotype is valued.

To enhance self-awareness and agency, teachers partner with students to explore their individual learning profiles and identify effective strategies for optimizing learning, relationships, and well-being. Approaches can vary, from responsive small groups in the Junior School to dedicated classes for small groups or one-on-one support in the Senior School.  Learning Strategies team members regularly liaise with teachers to coordinate classroom support, instructional, and assessment approaches.
