Celebration of Community

Dear York House School Families,
 
We are delighted to invite you to the Chan Centre for Performing Arts at UBC on December 14, from 2:00 - 3:15 pm for our annual Celebration of Community. 
 
For over 25 years, this concert has provided an opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate Music and the Performing Arts and our community at York House School. All Junior School students in Grades 1-7 and many Senior School Band and Choir students in Grades 8-12 will perform musical numbers.
 
This is a whole school affair: 300 YHS students will perform on this day, and 300 others will join in celebrating their performances and achievements and our YHS community. This beautiful space offers a unique performance experience for students and, with a capacity of 1200 people, allows us to gather as a community of students, families, special guests, and YHS staff.

Parents: please log in to myYHS and reserve your tickets by Monday, December 5.
 
    Please note:
    • Junior and Senior Kindergarten students will not perform in the concert. Little School students will be dismissed early that day at 12:00 pm. This will allow families with siblings in the Junior or Senior Schools to attend the event.
    • Junior School students will be bussed directly to the Chan Centre in the morning for a rehearsal followed by their performance. Unlike in previous years, and to maximize learning and simplify the day, students will stay at the Chan Centre until after the performance. Students are asked to bring a packed snack and lunch on this day which includes a filled water bottle. Parents are asked to pick up their child from the main foyer of the Chan Centre following the performance. Parents will need to sign their child out with their child’s teacher. If you are not attending the performance and cannot pick up your daughter from the Chan Centre, your child will take the bus back to the school. Please note the expected time of arrival at the school for these students is 4:00 pm that day. Kindly let your child’s teacher know if you need your child to be bussed back to school. 
    • All Senior School students — performers and audience alike —  will be bussed to the Chan Centre with staff. While December 14th is a Wednesday, there will not be a late start in the Senior School on that date. Classes will start at 8:35 am. Following the concert, parents can pick up their child from the Chan Centre at approximately 3:15 pm or at the school at approximately 4:00 pm.
    Thank you in advance to our students, the Performing Arts Department, and many teachers and staff who are working hard behind the scenes to create a meaningful and memorable celebration for everyone.
