Alumnae Day

Location: Virtual

ALUMNAE DAY 2020

Saturday, October 3 from 11:00-12:30 pm

Yes, 2020 is a year like no other!

We have had to find new and creative ways to engage with one another. However, we have already proven that the Yorkie spirit is unstoppable!

Our students have just started back to school and in spite of the global pandemic, we have launched the opening of our new STEAM Lab in the Senior School. This new space—funded exclusively by the generosity of our community—will be a hub where students can explore a problem, engage in research, generate ideas, take risks, prototype, and construct solutions that draw on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

While we cannot invite our alumnae and special guests to the school in person at this time, we have a very exciting virtual event in store for you. This virtual event will be hosted live by our Head of School, Julie Rousseau, and President of the Alumnae Association, Courtney (Smith) Cousineau '99 with recordings of interviews and messages from our special guests and alumnae from around the world.

We hope that you will be able to join us on this day to hear what our very special guest, Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canada’s first woman astronaut and the first neurologist in space, has to share about the importance of this type of learning and her own experiences in exploration. Children’s author Geraldine Santiago, Class of '83, will introduce Dr. Bondar.

You will also hear from York House’s first Rhodes Scholar to Oxford University, Manpreet Deol '15 as well as our 2020 Alumnae Special Achiever Saara Bhanji '03.

Please RSVP here for the event.

Please note: We will not be able to share this unique presentation with Dr. Bondar afterwards so please do attend if you wish to hear her speak.

Founders’ Day 2020: Please also note that this year, we will be holding a virtual assembly for our students on October 2nd to celebrate our school’s founding. Highlights of this event will be shared with our community at a later date.
