Grade 9 Take Our Kids to Work Day

Dear Grade 9 Families,

As part of a national educational event, YHS Grade 9 students will participate in “Take Our Kids to Work™” on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. This program is sponsored by high schools across the country and takes place in the early part of November each year. “Take Our Kids to Work” is a national, single-day job shadow experience and a unique opportunity for grade nine students to attend a place of work of a parent, relative, or friend for an enriched learning opportunity.

The purpose of this day is for students to explore interests and career possibilities through a workplace visit with a parent, relative, trusted adult friend or volunteer host. Our hope is that the day will provide a springboard for conversations about life pursuits, choices, and careers.

This initiative is part of the BC curriculum and our YHS Career-Life Connections Program. It will be up to students and families together to plan for this day. There will be no school for Grade 9 students on Wednesday, November 2; their day will consist entirely of being at a work site. We ask for your support in helping your child arrange for a meaningful workplace experience.

Thank you for your support in helping to make this experience both memorable and meaningful for everyone.

Sincerely,

Jaclyn Murray
Career-Life Connections and Capstone Coordinator
