Learning Strategies

  • Resource

The Resource Program assists students with identified learning challenges with their academic courses and skill development. Identified students receive an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or a Student Support Plan (SSP) that outlines specific classroom interventions, strategies, goals, and testing accommodations to help foster success and build lifelong learning skills. Students will also have a Resource class built into their timetable for one-to-one or small group support to develop and improve learning strategies like note-taking, test-taking, study and executive functioning skills. To be a part of the program, prospective students need to be referred to the Learning Strategies Department for possible assessment and evaluation. For more information, please contact Sandy Bucifal, Coordinator of Learning Strategies, at: sbucifal@yorkhouse.ca
  • Support Block

Support Blocks are offered through the Learning Strategies Department and are available to students who may need a supervised study block to complete academic work with limited support. Support blocks are intended for more independent learners who do not need intensive one-to-one or small group intervention, just occasional support. For more information please contact Sandy Bucifal at: sbucifal@yorkhouse.ca
