Courageous Conversations - At issue panel on human rights day
On Human Rights Day (December 10, 2025), York House School hosted a powerful "Courageous Conversations" assembly inspired by CBC's At Issue panel.
We were honoured to welcome our distinguished panelists on campus to participate in a thoughtful dialogue:
- Althia Raj – Political journalist & panellist for CBC National's At Issue
- Friba Rezayee – Executive Director of Women Leaders of Tomorrow
- Kait Weston – Deputy Head of St. George's School
- Chris Cropley – Social Studies teacher at York House School
Together, our panelists and students examined gender expression, identity, and the societal pressures individuals navigate within patriarchal systems. The conversation was candid, thoughtful, and most of all, human. While various viewpoints and experiences were exchanged, our panelists highlighted that access to education and financial independence would be essential for individuals in finding ways forward.
Congratulations to our student facilitators, Situ '26, Annie '26, and Fiona Q. '26 for their thoughtful moderation, demonstrating exactly what courageous discourse looks like.
This is how York House School “does” education: creating spaces where students confidently explore complex issues with respect, nuance, and the conviction that dialogue drives change.
Heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Lee, Mr. Chyzyk, and Mr. Cropley for championing this event.
