Unlocking Opportunity: Making York House Accessible to Every Student

“I see the value of independent schools. I just can’t afford it.”

Sound familiar? If this thought has stopped you from looking into an independent school, we invite you to learn more about financial aid and scholarships at York House School.

Why would a school offer Financial Aid?

Picture this: a classroom buzzing with diverse voices, fresh perspectives, and authentic connections that stretch far beyond the campus walls. This is what we value as a school, and it's only possible when we welcome a more diverse student body. Financial assistance is one way that supports our vision.

We're not interested in creating an echo chamber. Our Financial Aid program is our commitment to building a community where every student brings something unique to the table, where different backgrounds spark meaningful conversations, and where learning happens through real connection with our society.

Every year, the school offers up to $1 million to make York House education accessible—and this amount is growing each year. This isn’t just to cover tuition costs. We also support families in school-related expenses like uniforms, laptops, and co-curricular activities. This funding, generated from annual fundraising and endowment funds, is renewable each year, supporting our students’ education along the way until graduation.

Who is eligible?

Any new student entering Grade 8 can apply for Financial Aid. We welcome applications from families who are taking steps to prioritize their investment in their children’s education. Our goal is to partner with these committed families to provide meaningful financial support. To achieve this, we work with you to understand your family’s financial needs. This ensures we can create the best plan together to make a truly transformational education at York House School a reality for many more students.

We understand that financial circumstances can be complex and unique to families. Our goal is to determine the right level of support for each qualifying student. That's why we dig deeper than just income numbers. By submitting your financial information to Apple Financial Services (AFS), we will receive an impartial analysis to understand factors such as your housing situation, business ownership, assets, and health and lifestyle expenses. Our Financial Aid Committee will evaluate an applicant’s eligibility based on the recommendation from AFS as well as the school’s policies and criteria. Using a third-party organization like AFS means our Financial Aid process can be kept comprehensive and confidential.

On top of a family’s financial needs, we also thoughtfully assess the merit of each student applicant through their admissions application. We're looking for students who light up when they learn, are curious about the world, and show dedication to supporting their community however they can.

Students who qualify for aid will be awarded tuition and/or program support provided by the York House School’s general financial aid funds and specific named scholarships.

While Financial Aid is mostly available to students entering Grade 8, we have select named scholarships available for students at other grade levels. Specific criteria for each scholarship for the upcoming academic year can be found here. By applying for Financial Aid, students are automatically considered for these scholarships depending on their criteria. It’s a streamlined process and no further application is required to be considered for each scholarship.

How to apply?

Financial Aid applications are completed alongside the school admission application. When filling in your admissions application, just indicate your interest in applying for Financial Aid on your application form, and an Enrollment Management staff member will reach out to you with the next steps.

  • The deadline for both the admissions and Financial Aid applications for 2026/27 is November 5, 2025
  • The Financial Aid application fee is $137.50. Please contact us if this will be a barrier to your application

At York House School, we strive for an unbiased admission process. That’s why we treat Financial Aid applications as a separate process from admission applications. Applying for aid won't impact your admission chances. No matter your financial situation, you are welcome here.
