GLobal Online Academy Cohort Shines
York House School is excited to celebrate the success of our very first Global Online Academy (GOA) cohort! This summer, three Yorkies took on the challenge of a GOA course.
This innovative program connects students from around the world to rigorous, thought-provoking virtual courses. Congratulations to our GOA trailblazers who each engaged in a unique subject:
Ayma ’27 – Bioethics
Silvia ’28 – Genocide and Human Rights
Abby ’30 – Middle School Computational Thinking
Beyond academic enrichment, the students shared that they gained important life skills including time management, communication, and self-advocacy through taking a GOA course. They even learned how to navigate a range of global time zones as they connected with the course instructor and global peers!
Students reflected on their learning experience with the GOA courses:
“This course deepened my understanding of how systemic injustice operates and the importance of speaking out against it. I now see how individual actions can either sustain or challenge human rights abuses. Moving forward, I’m committed to becoming a more informed and active upstander. I’m also inspired to learn more about geopolitics, international relations, and diplomacy with the intent to make a difference in the world,” Silvia, Grade 10 stated.
Congratulations also to Sally ’26 who is currently taking a GOA course in Climate Action and Sustainability while navigating her graduation year.
We’re incredibly proud of our students' initiative, insight, and commitment to global learning! Learn more how GOA courses complement students' learning at York House.
