New Senior Student Orientation Day

Contact: Mabel Lim
Dear Parents of New Senior School Students,

We hope you are all having a wonderful summer break. We look forward to meeting your daughters again at the New Senior Student Orientation Day on Wednesday, September 5. Please see below for full event details:

Please arrive at the Senior School (entrance is 4176 Alexandra Street) by 8:15 am. We suggest dropping your daughter off at our King Edward Avenue lay-by between 8:00 - 8:15 am. Members of the 2018-2019 Student Executive will be on hand to greet new students at the lay-by and school entrance. Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes and bring:
  • their laptop/tablet
  • pen/pencil in case they want to make notes in their new agenda
  • refillable water bottle.
We will start promptly at 8:30 am in the Odette Tognetti Theatre. Over the course of the morning, your daughters will get the chance to meet our Head of School, Mme Julie Rousseau, our Senior School Director, Mrs. Kimberley Harvey, as well as Senior School counselors and teachers. Grade 8 students will meet their Teacher Advisors and their Teacher Advisor Groups (TAG). New Grade 9-12 students will spend some time with our Senior School counsellors and our Student Executive.

Students will receive their agendas, schedules, locks, and lockers. They will have the opportunity to find their lockers and classrooms, and ask any questions they might have about the first few weeks of school. They will also receive basic training on the current technological systems in the Senior School on their laptop/tablet.

New Grade 9, 11 and 12 students can depart after the IT session and snack break (around 10:45/11:00 am). New Grade 10 students will stay for an Outdoor Education meeting with Ms. Robin Friesen, our Outdoor Education coordinator. Grade 10 students will be done around 11:15/11:30 am.

Grade 8s will remain for a pizza lunch served at 12 noon. If your daughter has food allergies or wants a different lunch, please make sure she brings her own. After lunch, Grade 8s will continue with Outdoor Education with Ms. Robin. Grade 8s will be done by 3:00 pm.

Parents should pick up their daughters on our lay-by on Alexandra Street. If your daughter is leaving on her own, please have her check in with me or another staff member before they leave.

The New Senior Student Orientation Day is mandatory for all Grade 8 students, and new Grade 9-12 students. RSVP is therefore not required, but if your daughter is unable to attend, please let me know: [email protected].

Sincerely,

Mabel Lim
