Celebrating Our Duke of Edinburgh Award Participants

YHS
The YHS community gathered last Wednesday for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Celebration. Students presented their learning experiences through this program and received certificates and pins. York House is thrilled to have 40 students achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Award this past academic year, with a total of 145 students who had participated in the program, which makes YHS the second largest provider of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards in all of B.C.! Congratulations to our students, and thank you to our teachers, staff, and coaches for their guidance and mentorship.

The Duke of Edinburgh International Award Program promotes personal development, leadership, service-learning, and community involvement. Developed in the United Kingdom in 1956, the program involves young people ages 14-24 in 140 countries to engage in balanced, voluntary self-development activities. This acclaimed program directly aligns with York House School’s mission of empowering “young women to become active global citizens with the courage to act on their beliefs and make a difference”.
